COMBAT & STRENGTH / EDUCATION

Strength that earns its place
for Boxing.

Build conditioning and general strength around skill work.

Start with the big patterns

Leg strength, rows, presses and anti-rotation build a general physical base. In the weight room, use controlled repetitions and a range you can own before adding load.

Three useful choices for boxing

Supported split squat trains quadriceps and glutes; hip stabilizers assist. Build practical leg strength for getting up, climbing and daily tasks. Dumbbell Romanian deadlift trains hamstrings and posterior chain. Strengthen the back of the thighs for hinging and knee control. Dumbbell bench press trains pectorals, anterior shoulders and triceps. Improve horizontal pushing strength.

How to progress

Begin with about two challenging sets per move twice weekly. Add repetitions or a little load as technique and recovery allow. Training close to failure is not required on every set, and the best schedule is the one you repeat.

Three movements to understand

These are examples of general physical preparation. Tap any movement for target muscles, setup, execution, common errors and an easier alternative.

Put this into your week

Two strength days with separate technique sessions and easier days. Use repeatable intervals rather than maximal fatigue before skill practice.

Begin with a manageable session and record how it affects the next practice. If you can complete every set with sound form and recover well, add a repetition or modest resistance. If quality or recovery falls, reduce a set or move the session away from the hardest sport day.

Punch mechanics, defense and sparring require supervised technical coaching. Head-impact exposure and soreness deserve careful recovery decisions.

Evidence and interpretation

General training evidence informs this guide. The sport-specific exercise choices are coaching applications; training response varies by person and season.

General education. Work within your ability and seek qualified advice for injury, symptoms, contact technique or return to play.
