FIELD & COURT / EDUCATION
The demands of the sport
for Lacrosse.
Build a base for field speed, cutting and repeated stick work.

FIELD GUIDE / 01What the activity actually asks for
Lacrosse mixes running, stops, changes of direction and repeated upper-body skill.
Where the gym fits
Unilateral legs, posterior chain and upper-back strength complement field practice. Physical preparation raises general capacity. Skill and tactics remain specific to the sport.
What to practice separately
Stick skills, checking technique and game tactics require qualified coaching.
Three movements to understand
These are examples of general physical preparation. Tap any movement for target muscles, setup, execution, common errors and an easier alternative.

Supported split squat
Quadriceps and glutes; hip stabilizers assist. Use a wall or rail for balance; lower vertically and press through the front foot.

One-arm dumbbell row
Lats, rhomboids, mid-back and biceps. Brace your free hand and pull elbow toward the hip.
FULL TECHNIQUE GUIDE ↗Put this into your week
Two strength days and one easier aerobic session around field work. Use easy aerobic work plus selected repeatable field intervals.
Begin with a manageable session and record how it affects the next practice. If you can complete every set with sound form and recover well, add a repetition or modest resistance. If quality or recovery falls, reduce a set or move the session away from the hardest sport day.
Stick skills, checking technique and game tactics require qualified coaching. Reduce lifting volume when practices and matches intensify.
Evidence and interpretation
General training evidence informs this guide. The sport-specific exercise choices are coaching applications; training response varies by person and season.
General education. Work within your ability and seek qualified advice for injury, symptoms, contact technique or return to play.
