EVERYDAY MOVEMENT / EDUCATION

The demands of the sport
for Recreational fitness.

A flexible base for pick-up games and active weekends.

What the activity actually asks for

Casual sport changes week to week, so general strength and conditioning are the most useful starting point.

Where the gym fits

A squat, hinge, push, pull and carry across the week cover major movement patterns. Physical preparation raises general capacity. Skill and tactics remain specific to the sport.

What to practice separately

Choose activities you enjoy and use a manageable entry point after time away.

Three movements to understand

These are examples of general physical preparation. Tap any movement for target muscles, setup, execution, common errors and an easier alternative.

Put this into your week

Two or three whole-body sessions, plus enjoyable activity on other days. Blend easy walks or cycling with one optional interval day when recovery allows.

Begin with a manageable session and record how it affects the next practice. If you can complete every set with sound form and recover well, add a repetition or modest resistance. If quality or recovery falls, reduce a set or move the session away from the hardest sport day.

Choose activities you enjoy and use a manageable entry point after time away. Treat new soreness as a reason to adjust volume, not proof you need to push harder.

Evidence and interpretation

General training evidence informs this guide. The sport-specific exercise choices are coaching applications; training response varies by person and season.

General education. Work within your ability and seek qualified advice for injury, symptoms, contact technique or return to play.
